Corporate Social Responsibility
Syniverse Technologies has an obligation to the global communities where we do business as well as to the communities where our employees live. We exemplify our commitment to responsible corporate citizenship through our focus on ethical corporate behavior, corporate giving programs, employee community involvement and industry participation. Key initiatives supported by Syniverse include:
BBB Mobile Giving Foundation
As a premier sponsor of the BBB Mobile Giving Foundation, Syniverse will lend its expertise to facilitate international mobile access through its partnerships with more than 900 customers in over 160 countries, leveraging its position at the center of the mobile world to help nonprofits cultivate and interact with a new base of donors. The BBB Mobile Giving Foundation brings the power and reach of mobile phones to nonprofit organizations as a new fundraising and donor interaction mechanism. Syniverse Technologies volunteered its corporate resources to design and build a platform that would allow AMBER Alerts – an early warning system to help find abducted children – to be sent to mobile numbers registered to receive the free text messages. So far, Syniverse has donated approximately $9 million in development costs for hardware and software required to build, maintain and operate the Wireless AMBER Alerts system. For more about Wireless AMBER Alerts, visit www.wirelessamberalerts.org.
“Alerts for Kids” Program
The “Alerts for Kids” program is a Syniverse project to encourage registration of wireless numbers to receive free Wireless AMBER AlertsTM text messages. Through this program, Syniverse helps businesses, the wireless industry, government and concerned individuals work together to achieve the important objective of keeping our children safe.Alerts for Kids is a two-pronged initiative that:
- Encourages businesses to register all company-owned wireless numbers to ensure additional eyes can be on the lookout for an abducted child or suspect vehicle if a company-owned mobile device receives a Wireless AMBER Alert. (At Syniverse we have registered 100 percent of our 550 company-owned mobile numbers.)
- Provides businesses the tools to encourage their employees to register personal mobile phones.
Text4baby

Syniverse donated its resources, messaging connectivity and ongoing support to power the Text4Baby program. Text4baby, an education program of the National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition (HMHB), provides pregnant women and new mothers with free text messages containing information to help them care for their health and give their babies the best possible start in life. For more information, visit www.text4baby.org.
United Way Campaign
Each year, Syniverse and its employees contribute thousands of dollars to the United Way of Tampa Bay for distribution to quality human service agencies. In fact, our participation in the 2008 campaign resulted in the company being lauded as one of the top 25 companies donating to the United Way in the Tampa Bay area.
Tampa Bay Technology Forum
We are active participants and financial supporters of the Tampa Bay Technology Forum (TBTF), a non-profit professional association of technology and business leaders, investors, government, researchers and educators. TBTF’s Community Outreach Committee focuses its attention on bridging the digital divide in Tampa Bay. The committee raises cash and equipment donations for the CompuTer-rific Program, a project that provides computer equipment, labor and technical support for computer labs in area Boys and Girls Clubs.
UNICEF
When tragedy struck Haiti, Syniverse and its employees rose to the occasion during a week-long fundraising push to help the survivors of the devastating earthquake. Through employee donations and a matching corporate gift, we were able to give more than $18,000 to the UNICEF relief effort to help bring food, clothing and medical supplies to some of the most at-risk victims – the children of Haiti.
